Houston Astros is a baseball team founded by Huston clot in April 10, 1962.The team currently belongs to Central Division of the National League. Houston Astros are the current defending National League champions, having played in the World Series for the first time in Franchise and Texas state history in October 2005.
In early days the team used to play at the Astrodome stadium, first indoor stadium. The Colt .45s joined the NL as an expansion team in 1962. In 1965 , the Astros and moved into the Astrodome—the country’s first indoor baseball stadium, Good pitching helped the Asors remain competative in 1970's.
In 1972 the team has joined with Harry walker and the team won a thrilling playoff beating the Dodgers for the Western League title. The team has won six games consectively and remained high in baseball history.The Astros played excellent from 1980-1985 . In 1990s Houston recorded around 102 wins. In the year 2000, the Houston Astros played in their new stadium, the Minute Maid Park . In 2001 the Astros won the team's fourth division title in five years, rewarding the best record in the National League. In 2002 and 2003, the team remained second in the NL Central.
The Astros won another division championship in 1986 under first-year manager Hal Lanier, who was named NL manager of the year.The Astros won the Central Division title in 1998 and 1999 but lost in the first round in both years. Before 2000, the Astros left the Astrodome and moved to a new home park, Enron Field.
Astros stadium is located in Houston and became first popular roofed stadium. In 1996 Houstoun spend approximatley $625 million to buid a new base ball stadium. It is of open-air baseball to Houston for the first time in 35 years, with the natural grass surface and classic architecture provided Minute Maid Park the atmosphere of the great ballparks of "baseball's Golden age."
